Who is SATC at SPD?

SPD’s Specialised Assistive Technology Centre (SATC) was set up as the National Assistive Technology Centre in Singapore. Since its inception SATC has supported individuals with communication difficulties and their caregivers along the journey of assessment and intervention.

SATC has been in the forefront of conducting individual and group training programs, workshops to train and empower a variety of communication partners, including caregivers, with skills to support AAC use.

SATC strongly believes and advocates that Caregivers play a pivotal role in facilitating effective communication of individuals with communication difficulties. For several years now, SATC has been running its parent training program titled ‘AAC for Caregivers’ and has equipped caregivers with necessary skills.

This year, SATC is supported by generous donors to continue to run the ‘AAC for Caregivers’ training program, and who support and believe that AAC should be used within everyday lives of the person using AAC!
